  Taylor Swift
  News

Swift kicked off the first night of her hotly awaited Reputation tour last night at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in front of 60,000 fans, and for the most part she went epic, with giant inflatable cobras, pyro, multiple stages and hordes of dancers. As always, she leaned hard into the new material, doing almost everything on the new Reputation (the one she left out was "So It Goes"), yet with her own uniquely intimate touch.

This might be her most astounding tour yet – even when she's aiming for maximum stadium-rock razzle-dazzle bombast, she gives it all the vibe of a mass communion. She didn't reach deep into her back catalog, beyond a few earth-shaking surprises like "Long Live" or her solo-acoustic revival of "All Too Well." Even when she goes back to the oldies, she sticks to her fanatical commitment to making them new.

No pop star goes to such absurd extremes to avoid repeating herself, even when repeating herself would be more than good enough. The girl just likes a challenge, even if that means she wants to stand under a surreal inflatable snake to sing her heartfelt confessions about autumn leaves and maple lattes.

  Official announcement

The second North American Savage Tour will start on Sep 4th. We’ll be playing 27 shows in total, many of them in places we weren’t able to get to on the first North American Savage tour in 2017. This flyer lists 26 of those shows but there is one festival date still to be added as soon as they make their own official announcement about the line up. The support for this tour will be the excellent Nightmare Air.

A bit far for me to travel so I wont be at this one.

  Florence + The Machine
  News

The Rolling Stones have announced what is essentially a festival's worth of special guests to support them on their UK tour this year.

Liam Gallagher, Florence + The Machine, The Vaccines, The Specials, Richard Ashcroft, Elbow and James Bay will join the legendary rock band on their Stones - No Filter tour which will take in eight huge UK stadium shows.

Florence + The Machine said: "We're so excited to be supporting the Rolling Stones, it is a huge honour to be playing with one of our biggest influences."

  Gary Numan
  Live - Pyramid Centre, Portsmouth

Return leg of his 2017 tour and Gary Numan opens at the Pyramid Centre.

As per usual the legend does not disappoint, nice to see This Wreckage get a play as well.

No appearance of his daughter this time on My Name Is Ruin as she did at Brighton, I guess she has to go to school occasionally.

A very good support act in the form of Nightmare Air, they will require some looking up.

  Kraftwerk
  Live - Colston hall, Bristol

Not seen Kraftwerk since the Computer World tour of 1982

Tickets sold out very quick but we managed to get in at Bristol on an absolutely glorious day. Plenty of drink before hand, a necessity as we were going dressed up in traditional red shirt and ties.

Kraftwerk did not disappoint, never sure how much they actually play live but that’s not the point. It’s the total visual and sound experience of one of musics great pioneers that counts.

  Video - I Saw A Ghost

Saw them support James on tour but down to a two piece that night and I wasn’t impressed. Looked them up as a full band and loved them.

  Adam Ant
  Live - Portsmouth Guildhall

Saw the rather good Adam Ant at the Portsmouth Guildhall.

Always a bit of a concern when you see the “old-timers” trying to relive their youth but he was good, only the poor sound system which made his vocals indistinct marred the performance.

Personally I only knew about 1 in 4 of the songs but still a good show

This is a slightly odd song that does grow on you

Of course Charli in some very tight and very revealing clothing does nothing to influence my choice

Probably the best Simon and Garfunkel cover I've ever heard.

Heavy metal not really my thing but he can belt out a tune.

I got into Lorde after hearing Janet Devlin do a cover of "Royal"

She has a very original style and you can't get a much more minimalist video than this.

My favourite member of S Club 7 if I had to pick one. She has some good moves.

Although I'm not a professional producer by any means but I have to say whoever programmed/mixed the drums on this should go back to school. Far too loud and busy.
