Liam O’Brien

End Of Contract

Keeper to leave Fratton Park

Liam O’Brien has agreed a deal to sign for Coventry.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper will join the League Two side when his Pompey contract expires next month.

He played three times for the Blues last season, with all of his appearances coming in the EFL Trophy group stages.

O’Brien kept a clean sheet in a victory over Bristol Rovers and also saved three penalties in a shoot-out defeat to Reading.

He came through the youth system at Fratton Park before going on to play for Barnet, Brentford and Dagenham.

But O’Brien returned last summer and deputised for David Forde, sitting on the bench for every League Two fixture.

Pompey have signed Liam O’Brien and Amine Linganzi on one-month contracts.

The deal for 26-year-old midfielder Linganzi is subject to international clearance.

Goalkeeper O’Brien, 24, came through the ranks at Fratton Park and was capped at England under-19 level while with the club.

He left without making a senior appearance in 2010 and went on to play for Barnet, Brentford and Dagenham, featuring 39 times for the latter.

Algeria-born Congo international Linganzi moved to England in 2010 and has featured for Blackburn, Accrington – where he was managed by Leam Richardson – and Gillingham.

He most recently appeared for French club Frejus and has turned out for the Blues in pre-season.
