Lane is looking for her "magic man". A man who has all of the attributes that are on her checklist. In the meantime she finally hears her calling when a job opportunity presents itself in the form of Cosmo magazine. After failing to impress the editor they head out of the office when they begin talking men. There Lane (Hillary Duff) has the idea to combine dating and work place. After causing a blackout at her job interview she lands the job in an office to begin her undercover work. After dating several co-workers she happens to spill her drink on a "magic man candidate" Liam. However her boss isn't impress by the direction she tries to take her story and tries to get her to stop dating Liam.
Hilary Erhard Duff (born September 28, 1987) is an American actress, singer, songwriter, businesswoman, and author. Duff began her acting career at a young age and quickly became labeled a teen idol as the title character of the Disney Channel television series Lizzie McGuire (2001–2004) and in the theatrical film based off the series, The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003). Thereafter, Duff appeared in numerous films, with leading roles in Agent Cody Banks (2003), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), A Cinderella Story (2004), and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005). After experiencing commercial and critical failure in Material Girls (2006), Duff began appearing in independent films such as War, Inc. (2008), According to Greta (2009), and Bloodworth (2010). Since 2015, she has starred as Kelsey Peters on the TV Land comedy-drama series Younger, for which she has received nominations for People’s Choice Awards in 2016 and 2017.

The series proved to be a hit, leading to a film adaptation of the series to be released. Duff began working on numerous projects with the Disney Channel, including the film Cadet Kelly (2002). She later began work on an album, releasing the Christmas themed Santa Claus Lane (2002) through Walt Disney Records. Upon signing with Hollywood Records, Duff began working on her second studio album, Metamorphosis (2003). The album achieved critical and commercial success, topping the U.S. Billboard 200 and selling over three million copies in the nation. It also found success in both Canada and Japan. Duff’s success in both acting and music led to her becoming a household name, with merchandise such as dolls, clothing, and fragrances being released.
