Marsters first came to the attention of the general public playing the popular character Spike in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off series, Angel. Since then, he has gone on to play other science fiction roles, such as the alien supervillain Brainiac on the series Smallville, the time traveller Captain John Hart in British science-fiction show Torchwood, and terrorist Barnabas Greeley in Syfy's Caprica. Marsters appeared in a supporting role in the 2007 movie P.S. I Love You. He appeared as a recurring character in the first season of the revival of Hawaii Five-0. Marsters also plays Victor Stien in the 2017 Hulu adaptation of Marvel Comics Runaways.

Wilder's first major role was as Leopold Bloom in the 1967 film The Producers. This was the first in a series of collaborations with writer/director Mel Brooks, including 1974's Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Wilder is known for his portrayal of Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and for his four films with Richard PryorSilver Streak (1976), Stir Crazy (1980), See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989), and Another You (1991). Wilder directed and wrote several of his own films, including The Woman in Red (1984).
