His first big television role came in 1982, but his big break was as the Vicomte de Valmont in the stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award.

1928 – Bernard Cribbins

Bernard Joseph Cribbins, OBE is an English character actor, voice-over artist and musical comedian with a career spanning over seventy years. He came to prominence in films of the 1960s, and has been in work consistently since his professional debut in the mid-1950s.

Cribbins narrated The Wombles, a BBC children’s television programme that ran for 60 episodes between 1973 and 1975, and played the pretentious guest Mr. Hutchinson in “The Hotel Inspectors” episode of Fawlty Towers (1975), and the belligerent barman in Alfred Hitchcock’s Frenzy (1972). He also recorded several novelty records in the early 1960s and was a regular and prolific performer on the BBC’s Jackanory from 1966 to 1991. Having appeared as Tom Campbell, a companion to Doctor Who in the 1966 feature film Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D., Cribbins also appeared four decades later as Wilfred Mott, a companion to television’s Tenth Doctor.

Born: 10 March 1968

Pavel Srnicek was a Czech professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper from 1990 to 2007, mainly for Newcastle United. In addition, he represented Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth and West Ham United in England, and also played in Italy for Brescia and Cosenza, in Portugal for Beira-Mar, and in his native country for Banik Ostrava. After retiring, he worked as a goalkeeping coach for his own private school and for Sparta Prague.

Srnicek played internationally for the Czech Republic from 1994 to 2001, earning a total of 49 caps. He was part of their squad that came runners-up at UEFA Euro 96, and was their first-choice goalkeeper when they came third at the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup and contested UEFA Euro 2000.

1953 – Bobby Doyle

Robert “Bobby” Doyle is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder.

Doyle began his career at Barnsley before moving to Peterborough United in 1976. He moved to Blackpool F.C. in 1979, making 49 league appearances and scoring two goals, before joining Portsmouth in November 1980, winning the Third Division championship in 1983. A move to Hull City followed two years later where he established himself in midfield during the club’s promotion bid in 1985-86, before a broken leg in a pre-season friendly ended his career.

Mark Nicholas Stimson is an English former footballer and is currently manager of Thurrock. He signed his first professional contract with Tottenham Hotspur in 1985, but was unable to gain a regular place in the team. He later played for Portsmouth, Southend United and Leyton Orient before dropping into non-League football.

Grace Jacqueline Hill was a British actress known for her role as Barbara Wright in the BBC science-fiction television series Doctor Who. As the history teacher of Susan Foreman, the Doctor’s granddaughter, Barbara was the first Doctor Who companion to appear on-screen in 1963, with Hill speaking the series’ first words. She played the role for nearly two years, leaving the series in 1965 at the same time as fellow actor William Russell (who played the companion Ian Chesterton).

Hill returned to Doctor Who in 1980 for an appearance in the serial Meglos, as the Tigellan priestess Lexa.
