Verdict

Not quite reaching the heights of Eureka but still thoroughly entertaining and will be much missed

The Time Of The Doctor

(2013)

Plot Summary

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

Verdict

Nothing like watching a Christmas Doctor Who on a hot summers day! The sad last episode to my favourite “new” Doctor Who. Certainly one of the better episodes with the Doctor in fine comic form,. Jenna Coleman is as hot as ever and even a cameo from the gorgeous Karen Gillan.

Eureka

(2006-2012)

Plot Summary

With the help of Albert Einstein and other trusted advisors, President Harry S. Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America’s most valuable intellectual resources.

There our nation’s greatest thinkers, the über-geniuses working on the next era of scientific achievement, would be able to live and work in a supportive environment. The best architects and planners were commissioned to design a welcoming place for these superlative geniuses to reside, an area that would offer the best education for their children, the best healthcare, the best amenities and quality of life. A community was created to rival the most idyllic of America’s small towns – with one major difference: this town would never appear on any maps. At least, none that haven’t been classified “eyes only” by the Pentagon.

Verdict

Another wonderful and under appreciated show. Funny, serious and totally ludicrous all in equal measures. There is now another hole in my life now that I have finished all five seasons.

The Internet Is Coming

Plot Summary

Having learnt from Douglas that the secret of his success is wearing women’s slacks Moss buys a pair, which makes him brave and creative. Roy is annoyed that tiny barista Troy is making his coffee too milky and they argue, after which Troy falls in front of a van. At the same time Jen accidentally throws coffee over a vagrant, both incidents being captured on camera and posted on the Internet, turning Jen and Roy into global hate figures.

Roy also accompanies girlfriend Alice to her grandfather’s funeral but overdoes the pepper spray to simulate tears of grief, which, added to his Internet notoriety, is enough for her to dump him. Douglas attempts damage limitation by going on TV’s ‘The Secret Millionaire’ but blows his cover so Moss devises a plan to market the pepper spray and turn his colleagues into heroes. However it backfires and the IT crowd have to clear their desks.

Verdict

A great ending to another fine series from the hand of Graham Linehan. If only I had known earlier the secret of confidence is womens slacks.

Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen lives a happy live with her husband Tom, and they are planning to adopt a baby. Liz wants to go to her new job at the FBI when she is picked up by them and driven to a black-site. Here she meets Raymond Reddington. He wants to catch dangerous criminals with them, some of them not even known as existing to the FBI. He has made a Blacklist on which all of those criminals stand.

There is one thing Red demands – he will only speak and work with Elizabeth Keen – and this happens. Around Liz, a task force is made in which are some of the biggest professionals the FBI knows. The task force helps Red to find his criminals, but there seems to be more going on. Why would Red choose Liz? Why does he want to solve cases together with the FBI. And, as Red says, Liz’ husband Tom Keen isn’t who he pretends to be. As they save criminal after criminal the answers become slowly clear.

Verdict

(SPOILERS) Purchased on a gamble as I think James Spader is an amazing actor. The series is engrossing and the whole season was watched in a very short space of time. You are never quite sure who are the good guys. I was very saddened to see Meera (Parminda Nagra) killed off though.
